Moustache Masterpieces: 10 Sculpted and Bizarre Facial Hair Styles

shave or not to shave? With these people there’s no question; the real decision is how to style years worth of facial hair growth into an exotic design that will turn heads and inspire friends to throw away their razors and give a beard or mustache a shot. Some people derive their identity from their facial hair, while others use it as a fashion statement, or groom it for competition. Regardless of the reasoning, unique facial hair designs are rare and interesting. Here are 10 of the most jaw dropping moustache and beard designs.

Creative-Beard

The large surface area of a person’s beard allows for intricate and voluminous designs not possible with moustache hair alone. Maintaining a shape requires braiding or heavy duty wax and sprays, but the increasing popularity of the World Beard and Moustache Championships helps motivate hesitant facial hair growers, and helps spur creative new designs.

Bearded-Lady

While facial hair is not socially acceptable on females in Western Society, it’s always been acceptable in the circus. The bearded lady has been a freakshow staple for just as long as the strong man and the sword swallower. Some women push the boundaries of social norms to help broaden societal acceptance of women (and men) who don’t conform to gender stereotypes. Despite changes in public opinion, women with facial hair are still a surprising sight to most.

Creative-Mustaches

Moustache sculpting is often difficult because there’s less hair to work with, but mustache wearers are more than willing to tackle adversity and come up with stunning designs. The old fashioned wax moustache has evolved into something much more interesting and varied, as people push the limits of mustache sculpting.

Fake

Facial hair envy is a common condition, and people are endlessly creative in hiding their lack of hirsuteness. Fake mustaches aren’t just for Halloween anymore! Slap on some felt or clumps of animal hair, and you can be as cool as the most manly man (or woman). Watch as people stop and stare in wonderment and awe (and envy of their own)!

Icons

(Images via zendirtzendust, sodahead, riverfronttimes, dibbledop)

The smooth faced look has become so common, that unique facial hair can become a huge part of one’s identity. There are a slew of famous faces that would be nigh unrecognizable without their iconic styles. From the famous to the infamous, a large bushy beard, or a slim and lengthy moustache can make you memorable long after your time in the limelight.

Thick

(Images via sheldon, duenos, theblossoms, mortalonline)

When a moustache doesn’t have enough volume, why not involve your beard as well? It can give your mustache the muscle to really wow the crowd. When letting your beard hang low doesn’t fit with your sophisticated style, it’s time to whip out the styling gel and get shaping!

Tiered

(Images via listverse, desitwist, watchmojo)

Tiers! If they’re good enough for cakes, they’re good enough for facial hair. Creating an intricate facial hairdo can be managed by careful grooming of the length of your beard and moustache. Fluid curves and curls bring the old fashioned moustache twirl to a whole new level… several levels, actually.

Long-Beard

(Images via strangedangers, brisbanetimes)

Few world records require as much perseverance as the title of having the world’s longest beard. Sarwan Singh is the current record holder, with a beard topping out at over 2 meters in length (7 feet). The longest beard ever? It measured over 5 meters in length (17 feet), but its owner is now deceased. If you’d like to tackle this record, I hope you’re patient, as it will take decades to come even close.

Animal

(Images via sceneinpa, cchumane)

Even animals like to get in on the fun, as they proudly display their own facial hair. Who could resist a cute kitten with a clearly defined moustache? Without the benefits of styling products, animals aren’t able to get very creative, but mother nature has done it for them – providing lush facial hair with an appeal all its own.

Long-Mustache

Much like wild beasts clashing horns to achieve dominance, manly men challenge each other each year at the World Beard and Moustache Championships. With giant antlers made of hair, they stare each other down, with length, thickness, and style all taken into account. An elegant moustache or a dominating full beard explosion… which would you choose?

Lack of sleep linked to early death: study

Lack of sleep linked to early death: study

People who get less …

LONDON (AFP) – People who get less than six hours sleep per night have an increased risk of dying prematurely, researchers said on Wednesday.

Those who slumbered for less than that amount of time were 12 percent more likely to die early, though researchers also found a link between sleeping more than nine hours and premature death.

"If you sleep little, you can develop diabetes, obesity, hypertension and high cholesterol," Francesco Cappuccio, who led research on the subject at Britain's University of Warwick, told AFP.

The study, conducted with the Federico II University in Naples, Italy, aggregated decade-long studies from around the world involving more than 1.3 million people and found "unequivocal evidence of the direct link" between lack of sleep and premature death.

"We think that the relation between little sleep and illness is due to a series of hormonal and metabolical mechanisms," Cappuccio said.

The findings of the study were published in the Sleep journal.

Cappuccio believes the duration of sleep is a public health issue and should be considered as a behavioural risk factor by doctors.

"Society pushes us to sleep less and less," Cappuccio said, adding that about 20 percent of the population in the United States and Britain sleeps less than five hours.

Sleeping less than six hours is "more common amongst full-time workers, suggesting that it may be due to societal pressures for longer working hours and more shift work"

The study also found a link between sleeping more than nine hours per night and premature death, but Cappuccio said oversleeping is more likely to be an effect of illness, rather than a cause.

"Doctors never ask how much one sleeps, but that could be an indicator that something is wrong," said Cappuccio, who heads the Sleep, Health and Society Programme at the University of Warwick.

Research showed no adverse effects for those sleeping between six and eight hours per day.

World's Richest Moms

Only 70 mothers in the world have billion-dollar fortunes, and just eight of these built their own.

Margaret C. Whitman, better known as Meg, has had a storied career. A graduate of Princeton and Harvard Business School, she worked at Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG - News) before moving to California with her husband, a neurosurgeon who now works at Stanford Hospital. After successful stints at consulting firm Bain & Co., Disney (NYSE: DIS - News) and Hasbro (NYSE: HAS - News), she joined eBay (NasdaqGS: EBAY - News), then a small tech firm with 30 employees, as chief executive. In 2004 she debuted on Forbes' World's Billionaires List.

It was her own mother, Whitman writes in a book published by Random House this January, titled The Power of Many, who gave her "a bias toward action." In an interview with ForbesWoman earlier this year, Whitman discussed the relationship, explaining that her mother, who eventually learned Mandarin and visited China 80 times, had taught her that "you don't have to be perfect to be a leader, but you can't be timid."

Now that bias is leaning toward the governor's mansion, as Whitman campaigns to replace Republican California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. During her campaign she has highlighted her mother's adventurous spirit in driving Meg and her two siblings from their home in Long Island on camping trips to California. Today she includes her husband and her two sons as influences in her love of the West Coast. They are sporty California residents, according to her campaign website, and as such are reasons she is so dedicated to the economically ailing state. "If we let California fail, we all fail," she says. "And we love California too much to let it fail. We have to work together to make it the place of our dreams again."

For Whitman, motherhood was not a deterrent to her success, but an aid, lending what she now says is inspiration and support during her current political endeavors.

That makes her somewhat unusual. Whitman is one of just 70 billionaire moms in the world, and one of only eight mothers to have created her own billion-dollar fortune. (By contrast, there are 555 self-made billionaires who are fathers). The rest inherited fortunes from fathers or late husbands, including the world's richest woman and mom, Christy Walton, whose husband John, son of the founder of Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE: WMT - News), died in 2005 when his private plane crashed in Wyoming.

Some other enterprising moms include Zara's Rosalia Mera, whose two kids apparently watched her make dressing gowns, just before she and her now-ex husband Amancio Ortega launched the Spanish clothing line. The Gap (NYSE: GPS - News)'s Doris Fisher and Benetton's Guiliana Benetton also started clothing companies that went global and made their families among the richest in the world.

Joanne (JK) Rowling, author of the Harry Potter book franchise, has told the story of her difficult days in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she had moved with her first child after a painful divorce to be near her sister. Rowling now has two more children with her current husband. The advance from the manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which she wrote in cafes in Edinburgh, paid rent on the meager flat she shared with her first child while they were subsisting on welfare.

Those who inherit opportunity often use it to continue their own ambitious climb. Abigail Johnson, with her father, controls Fidelity Investments. The mutual fund company, the largest in the U.S., was founded by her grandfather. She was promoted to chairman of the board of fixed income and asset allocation funds last year, and is believed by some to be her father's chosen successor. She has raised two children with her husband.

Asia's richest woman, Savitri Jindal, the widowed matriarch of OP Jindal Group, a steel and power conglomerate in India, has nine children, more than any woman on the list. While she is non-executive chairman, her four sons have divvied up the business and each run their own independent units. In the meantime she keeps herself busy with politics, having been re-elected in the assembly elections in her home state of Haryana last year.

But being a billionaire mom--or for that matter, the child of a billionaire mom--isn't always easy.

Liliane Bettencourt, heiress to the L'Oreal cosmetics fortune, and her daughter have reportedly been off speaking terms as a result of Bettencourt's patronage of a younger companion, an artist her daughter alleges accepted more than a billion dollars in gifts from the heiress. The relationship between Bettencourt and her 56-year-old daughter, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers, is reflected in an unhappy light amid a legal complaint filed by Bettencourt-Meyers, who is dubious of her mother's judgment in spending her wealth. Liliane denies all, but has still been ordered to undergo psychological testing before a July trial.

A similarly unfortunate rift happened when Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chief executive of the Minnesota-based hospitality company Carlson Cos., relieved her son from his role as chief operating officer in 2007. Curtis Nelson, who reportedly used controlled substances and was arrested at least once for drunk driving, was terminated for "explosive," "inconsistent" behavior, derailing the trajectory he may have expected to follow to head the company himself.

The World's Richest Moms

There are 70 billionaire moms in the world, and only eight of those women--including Meg Whitman and J.K. Rowling--earned their own way to vast riches. But none of those self-starters are among the world's 10 richest moms, a group that is dominated by widows and daughters of the very rich.

Makeup heiress inherited fortune from her father, the founder of cosmetic giant L'Oreal. Europe's richest mom is not on speaking terms with her only daughter, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyer. Daughter claims Francoise-Marie Banier, 61, a well-known photographer, writer and painter Liliane befriended, took advantage of her mother, who became a widow in 2007. Last year Bettencourt-Meyers petitioned courts to investigate reported $1.4 billion worth of cash and gifts that her mother allegedly gave Banier. Liliane denies all; has been ordered to undergo psychological testing before a July trial.

Birgit Rausing

WEIRD .!!!!, FOUND 3 KG WORMS IN BOY'S ABDOMEN

Bandung, indonesia,., WEIRD!! .. Found 3 Kg worm in boy's abdomen [FULL PICT + VIDEO] .. Last Day (27/4/10) there was quite a scene bolt at one hospital in Bandung Came a boy aged around 10 years to the Emergency Unit of the Hospital with a complaint could not defecate for four days, Patients with abdominal bloating and looks great ...
Diagnosis of Obstructive ileus as is (Obstruction of the small intestine) Immediately, we prepare a single operation into convulsions only way is by surgery. After anesthesia walk, opened the boy's abdomen, apparently ... ... .... (Go to Pic, watch out for some people who don't resistant)

DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE IF YOU DON'T RESISTANCE !!!

Results of Operations: estimated 3 KG-worm type of Ascaris lumbricoides
(Estimated around 500-1000 worms)
After surgery is completed, the patient's family was summoned.
Once children know about the condition, the father response was "Oh mah've had regular Doc, several times my child given worm medicine, if he defecate, always all the worms out. 've Often had Doc !!!!"..

Gentlemen, I add the explanation .. Diseases Worms / Ascariasis:

Ascariasis is a human disease caused by the parasitic roundworm Ascaris lumbricoides. Perhaps as many as one quarter of the world's people are infected[1], and ascariasis is particularly prevalent in tropical regions and in areas of poor hygiene. Other species of the genus Ascaris are parasitic and can cause disease in domestic animals.

Infection occurs through ingestion of food contaminated with feces containing Ascaris eggs. Thelarvae hatch, burrow through the intestine, reach the lungs, and finally migrate up the respiratory tract. From there they are then reswallowed and mature in the intestine, growing up to 30 cm (12 in.) in length and anchoring themselves to the intestinal wall.

Infections are usually asymptomatic, especially if the number of worms is small. They may however be accompanied by inflammation, fever, and diarrhea, and serious problems may develop if the worms migrate to other parts of the body.

Signs and symptoms

Patients can remain asymptomatic for very long periods of time. As larval stages travel through the body, they may cause visceral damage, peritonitis and inflammation, enlargement of the liver or spleen, toxicity, and pneumonia. A heavy worm infestation may cause nutritional deficiency; other complications, sometimes fatal, include obstruction of the bowel by a bolus of worms (observed particularly in children) and obstruction of the bile or pancreatic duct. More than 796 Ascaris lumbricoides worms weighing up to 550 g [19 ounces] were recovered at autopsy from a 2-year-old South African girl. The worms had caused torsion and gangrene of the ileum, which was interpreted as the cause of death.[2]

Ascaris takes most of its nutrients from the partially digested host food in the intestine. There is limited evidence that it can also pierce the intestinal mucous membrane and feed on blood, but this is not its usual source of nutrition.[3] As a result, Ascaris infection does not produce the anemia associated with some other roundworm infections.[citation needed]

In Canada in 1970, a postgraduate student tainted his roommates' food with Ascaris lumbricoides. Four of the victims became seriously ill; two of these suffered acute respiratory failure.[4][5]

Adult worms (1) live in the lumen of the small intestine. A female may produce approximately 200,000 eggs per day, which are passed with the feces (2). Unfertilized eggs may be ingested but are not infective. Fertile eggs embryonate and become infective after 18 days to several weeks (3), depending on the environmental conditions (optimum: moist, warm, shaded soil). After infective eggs are swallowed (4), the larvae hatch (5), invade the intestinal mucosa, and are carried via the portal, then systemic circulation and/or lymphatics to the lungs . The larvae mature further in the lungs (6) (10 to 14 days), penetrate the alveolar walls, ascend the bronchial tree to the throat, and are swallowed (7). Upon reaching the small intestine, they develop into adult worms (8). Between 2 and 3 months are required from ingestion of the infective eggs to oviposition by the adult female. Adult worms can live 1 to 2 years.

First appearance of eggs in stools is 60–70 days. In larval ascariasis, symptoms occur 4–16 days after infection. The final symptoms are gastrointestinal discomfort, colic and vomiting, fever, and observation of live worms in stools. Some patients may have pulmonary symptoms or neurological disorders during migration of the larvae. However there are generally few or no symptoms. A bolus of worms may obstruct the intestine; migrating larvae may cause pneumonitis and eosinophilia.

The source of transmission is from soil and vegetation on which fecal matter containing eggs has been deposited. Ingestion of infective eggs from soil contaminated with human feces or transmission and contaminated vegetables and water is the primary route of infection. Intimate contact with pets which have been in contact with contaminated soil may result in infection, while pets which are infested themselves by a different type of roundworm can cause infection with that type of worm (Toxocara canis, etc) as occasionally occurs with groomers.

Transmission also comes through municipal recycling of wastewater into crop fields. This is quite common in emerging industrial economies, and poses serious risks for not only local crop sales but also exports of contaminated vegetables. A 1986 outbreak of ascariasis in Italy was traced to irresponsible wastewater recycling used to grow Balkan vegetable exports[6] .

Transmission from human to human by direct contact is impossible.[7]

The diagnosis is usually incidental when the host passes a worm in the stool or vomit. Stool samples for ova and parasites will demonstrate Ascaris eggs. Larvae may be found in gastric or respiratory secretions in pulmonary disease. Blood counts may demonstrate peripheral eosinophilia. On X-ray, 15–35 cm long filling defects, sometimes with whirled appearance (bolus of worms).

Prevention includes: use of toilet facilities; safe excreta disposal; protection of food from dirt and soil; thorough washing of produce; and hand washing.

Food dropped on the floor should never be eaten without washing or cooking, particularly in endemic areas. Fruits and vegetables should always be washed thoroughly before consumption.

10 Places You're Guaranteed to Meet Men

Meeting the opposite sex isn't the easiest feat – especially when you work in femme-heavy fashion – but here's a compilation of some handy and perhaps unexpected tips to cross paths with Mr. Right.

1. Eat Out
Busy, single men don’t have time to cook. This is why they need a girlfriend! Just kidding. However, when they are tired and hungry after work, they dine out at restaurants. So if you want to meet a new man, try a new restaurant at least once a week.

2. Join a Gym
Gyms are places where all body conscious men go to let off some steam. If you meet a man at the gym you can see what he really looks like when he’s all sweaty. If he looks good in gym clothes, he’ll look great in real clothes. People who work out are also much happier (translation: a better partner to be with).

3. Pay Attention To Your Pet
The sun is out and love is in the air. People are outside enjoying the weather. Take the opportunity to give your dog some extra attention and go to the park. If you don’t have a dog, borrow one. Many men think of dogs as soul mates (who else better understands their zest for the simple things in life?) and will often frequent dog runs. If a man sees a woman walking a cute dog, he will most likely start talking to her.

A Guy Dishes: Dating Tips He Learned from His Sisters

4. Fix Things
To me, Home Depot is the worst place in the world. I would rather sit in an icebox and freeze than go to an oversized tool shed. But, guys consider it their inner handyman Mecca. Men love fixing and building things, so Home Depot (or Lowes) stores are always filled with an array of manly men.

5. Start To Love Toys
Men love toys. The bigger the boat and the faster the engine, the more powerful the guy will be. The same way women love fashion shows, guys love toy shows. Car and boat shows are places where single men are like a flock to a shepherd. If you attend a car or boat show, pick up on the finer things in life (um, Ferraris anyone?), while meeting a man to drive it.

6. Wash Your Car
Speaking of cars, most men love their four-wheelers and they like them to appear brand new. It could be a rut (pun intended, but I’ve always dated men who are car freaks and I’ve been taken to car washes much too often. But while I'm there (bored to death), I’ve noticed that they were usually filled with men, and pretty hot ones sometimes. Head to a car wash and remember, your car can never be too shiny.

7. Be Tech-Friendly
True or false? Men are into electronics. All the men I’ve dated (or known for that matter) have proved this statement to be true. Men love technology and are always looking for new phones. If you want to meet a tech-friendly type of guy, frequent a Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T store.

8. Pick Up a Sport
Do you like tennis or golf? Well, start to love them both! Being active will boost your confidence and help you stay fit. Golf courses and tennis clubs are places that men go to with their friends. If you join one, you can better your game and meet new people.

The Best Date Moments in Cinematic History

9. Start Reading
Reading is a great way to escape your day-to-day troubles. Go to a bookstore and kill two birds with one stone – find a book and a brand new man. Some men love to learn and are always looking for reading material. If you’re browsing the same aisle, then you know you have something in common.

10. Get Cultured
Experience a typical New York moment by going to a museum. There are new exhibits opening all the time. If you meet a man at a museum, chances are he is interesting and cultured. You can also brush up on some art history while looking for that prospective boyfriend or husband.
